MemoJog Privacy Policy

Effective date: 12 October 2026

MemoJog ("we", "us", "the Service") is a WhatsApp-based reminder assistant. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and what your options are. It's written to match what the product actually does, not generic boilerplate, if we change how the product works, this document changes with it.

Who we are: Remindly Limited (trading as MemoJog), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17400513. Registered office: Unit 3 Office A, 1st Floor, 6-7 St. Mary At Hill, London, United Kingdom, EC3R 8EE. We are the "controller" of your personal data under UK GDPR. 1. What we collect

From using the Service:

Your WhatsApp phone number: your account identifier. WhatsApp also passes us the name on your WhatsApp profile.
Message content: the text (or a transcription/description of voice notes and photos, see below) of messages you send us, stored so we can create, edit, and remind you about your reminders.
Reminder details: titles, dates/times, recurrence, notes you add, and which of your reminders were created by someone else (see Section 5).
Timezone: guessed initially from your phone number's country code, and updated only if you tell us a city or share your WhatsApp location. If you share a location, we use the coordinates once to look up a timezone name and then discard them. We don't store your raw coordinates or location history.
Voice notes and photos: if you send them, sent to a third-party AI service to be transcribed or described into text (see Section 3), then handled the same as a typed message. We don't keep the original audio/image file after processing.
Basic usage metadata: a rolling message count used only to prevent abuse (rate limiting), and counts of how many reminders you've created (used to apply the free-trial and monthly limits described in our Terms).

If you subscribe to MemoJog Plus:

Subscription records: we store your plan (trial or Plus), when your free trial started, and the identifiers Stripe gives us for your customer record and subscription. We never see or store your card number.
Payment details: when you pay, you enter your card and billing details on a page hosted by Stripe: which acts as the seller of record for MemoJog subscriptions. Stripe collects and uses that information (your name, email, billing address, card details, tax information) as its own controller under Stripe's privacy policy.

From other people, if you use delegated reminders:

If you ask us to remind someone else, we also process their phone number and the reminder content you gave us for them, see Section 5, this is handled differently from your own data.

Website: the memojog.com website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. When you open the pricing section, your browser tells us its timezone and language so we can show the right price for your country; we don't store that.

We do not collect device identifiers or precise location history.

2. How and why we use it

We do not sell your data, we do not use your message content for advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models.

Health and other sensitive information. Reminders can reveal sensitive things, for example "take my antibiotics at 8am" or "chemo appointment Thursday". Health information is "special category" data under UK GDPR. We process it only to deliver the reminder you asked for, and only because you chose to send it to us, which is your explicit consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time by deleting the reminder or all your data (Section 7). If you'd rather not store health details, describe the reminder in neutral words (for example "take tablets" or "appointment"). MemoJog is not a medical service and must not be relied on for medication, see our Terms.

3. Who we share data with

We use a small number of specialised providers. Each only receives what it needs for its job:

We don't share your data with anyone else, and never for marketing. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

4. Transfers outside the UK

Some of these providers are based in, or process data in, the United States or other countries outside the UK. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards UK law accepts for international transfers, such as the UK–US data bridge for certified providers, or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum to standard contractual clauses in the providers' contracts. You can ask us for details at privacy@memojog.com.

5. Delegated reminders and third-party data

MemoJog lets you set a reminder for someone else, but only for people who already use MemoJog. We never message anyone who hasn't messaged us first, and we don't keep the phone number of a person who isn't a MemoJog user. Specifically:

If the person already uses MemoJog, we send them a message showing what you'd like to set and who it's from, and the reminder is only created if they accept it. They can reply STOP to opt out of reminders from that sender.
If you try to set a reminder for someone who doesn't use MemoJog, we tell you we can't, and we don't save or contact that number. They can start using MemoJog themselves by messaging us first.
We also store any contacts you explicitly save for people who use MemoJog (a name and a phone number), so you can refer to them by name later, visible only to you.

6. How long we keep it

Reminders: for as long as your account is active. Once a reminder is cancelled, we permanently delete it within 60 days. One-off reminders that have already fired are kept as your history until you delete them or your account.
Message text: the raw text of messages you send is kept separately for up to 7 days, purely so we can investigate a reported bug against the exact wording, then it's automatically and permanently deleted.
Billing records: our own record of your plan and Stripe identifiers is deleted when you delete your account. Stripe keeps its own payment, invoice and tax records for as long as the law requires, under its own policy, and we keep the payment reports Stripe gives us for our accounts (up to 6 years).
Free-trial record: if you delete your account after starting a free trial, we keep a one-way scrambled fingerprint of your phone number (it can't be turned back into the number) and the date your trial began, for 12 months, solely so the free trial can't be restarted. Nothing else about you is kept.
Backups: our database is backed up so we can recover from a failure. Deleted data can remain in those backups for a limited period (up to about three months) before it ages out; if we ever had to restore from a backup, we would delete again anything you'd already asked us to erase.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to: be told what we hold about you; access it; have it corrected; have it erased; restrict or object to how we use it; receive it in a portable form; and withdraw consent where we rely on it.

The quickest ways, by messaging MemoJog on WhatsApp:

See what's stored: ask it to list your upcoming reminders.
Delete a reminder: ask it to cancel one.
Pause everything: say "stop" and MemoJog sends you nothing on its own until you say "start".
Delete everything: say "delete all my data" and confirm. This permanently erases your account, reminders and contacts, and cancels any subscription so you aren't charged again (apart from the free-trial record in Section 6).
Cancel your subscription: say "cancel subscription" and it will send you a link.
Correct your timezone: tell it a city or share your location.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first so we can fix it. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint (telephone 0303 123 1113).

8. Security

Your data is stored in a password-protected database on our hosting provider that isn't exposed to the public internet. Traffic between you and the Service travels over encrypted connections. Access to our systems is limited to the people who run the Service. As with any service, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security. If a breach puts your rights at risk, we'll tell you and the ICO as the law requires.

9. Age requirement

MemoJog is not directed at children. You must meet WhatsApp's own minimum age requirement (currently 13, or higher where local law requires) to use this Service, and you must be 18 or over to buy a subscription.

10. Changes to this policy

We'll update this document as the product changes, and post the new effective date at the top. For material changes, anything that changes what we collect or who we share it with, we'll also send a one-time WhatsApp message to active users pointing at the update.
